PHILADELPHIA FREEDOMS ANNOUNCE HOME AND VISITING TEAM UPDATES

PHILLY’S OWN MO’NE DAVIS TO BE MADE FREEDOMS HONOREE PLAYER

Philadelphia, PA (July 19, 2015) - Serena Williams of the Washington Kastles will be unable to play in her scheduled Mylan World TeamTennis match on Monday, July 20 in Philadelphia due to an elbow injury. In addition to tickets purchased for Monday night’s match, the Philadelphia Freedoms are offering all July 20 ticket holders complimentary tickets to any other home match during the 2015 season. This offer is redeemable at the box office at the Villanova University Pavilion during any of the team’s remaining home matches. The box office opens at 5:30 p.m. on match day. The box office will open at 5 p.m. on Monday, July 20.

The Freedoms added 2015 Wimbledon quarterfinalist CoCo Vandeweghe to their lineup for a road match on Monday, July 27 and at home on Tuesday, July 28, both against the Boston Lobsters. Vandeweghe, who is one of the top four Americans on the WTA Tour, played in the first three road matches for the Freedoms this summer. The Boston Lobsters’ Eugenie Bouchard, who was scheduled to play in the July 28 match at Villanova, will no longer be playing in this match due to an injury.

Philadelphia’s own and 2014 Little League World Series standout Mo’ne Davis is making a special guest appearance at the Philadelphia Freedoms match on Monday, July 20. Mo’ne will be made an honoree Philadelphia Freedom. Conversation between Billie Jean King and Mo’ne Davis will be taking place. Mo’ne recently won the 2015 ESPY award for Best Breakthrough Athlete of the Year. Also taking place this night is an open house beginning at 5 p.m. Fans are welcome to meet Freedoms players Taylor Townsend, Robby Ginepri, Marcelo Melo, Abi Spears and Coach Josh Cohen. Autographs are available for those in attendance as well as photos/selfies with the team.

The Philadelphia Freedoms have four regular season home matches left to play at the Villanova University Pavilion including Monday, July 20 vs. the Washington Kastles, Thursday, July 23 vs. the Austin Aces (Philadelphia 76ers Night), Sunday, July 26 vs. the California Dream (BBQ Night/Pre-Match Block Party featuring The Bryan Brothers), and Tuesday, July 28 vs. the Boston Lobsters (Philadelphia Flyers Night).
