TENNIS SUPERSTAR SERENA WILLIAMS VISITS HIGHLIGHTS PHILADELPHIA FREEDOMS 2015 HOME SCHEDULE

PHILADELPHIA, PA (March 30, 2015)— Visiting tennis superstars Serena Williams, Eugenie Bouchard and the Bryan Brothers highlight the Philadelphia Freedoms 2015 home season, which opens when the Freedoms take on the Boston Lobsters at the Villanova University Pavilion on Thursday, July 16.
The Philadelphia Freedoms pursue the Mylan WTT King Trophy with three of the four players that helped the franchise reach its first playoff berth since 2007 selecting Taylor Townsend, Marcelo Melo and Liezel Huber along with new member to the team Robby Ginepri to complete the 2015 roster.
Current world No. 1 woman’s singles tennis player, Olympic Gold medalist and 2015 Australian Open champion Serena Williams (@serenawilliams) will play for the Washington Kastles when they face the Philadelphia Freedoms on Monday, July 20 at the Villanova University Pavilion. Williams, who is considered the most dominant player of her era, has won 34 grand slam titles including 19 singles titles, tied for fourth-most all-time. Williams’ July visit to Philadelphia marks her first Mylan WTT appearance here since 2009.
Current world No. 1 men’s doubles tennis players Mike and Bob Bryan (@theBryanBrothers) will play for new Mylan WTT league team, the California Dream, against the Philadelphia Freedoms for the new team in the Mylan WTT league, the California Dream on Sunday, July 26. The Bryan Brothers hold the all-time men’s doubles records with 104 titles and over 900 total match victories. The Bryan Brothers won several awards last year at the 2014 Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards including the ATP World Tour No. 1 doubles team. This will be The Bryan Brothers 13th season playing in Mylan WTT.
Current world No. 7 woman’s singles tennis player Eugenie “Genie” Bouchard (@GenieBouchard) will play for the Boston Lobsters when they face the Philadelphia Freedoms on Tuesday, July 28 at the Villanova University Pavilion. Bouchard had a breakthrough year in 2014, reaching the semifinals at the Australian Open and French Open. She also secured a spot in the finals of Wimbledon to become the first Canadian to ever reach the finals of a Grand Slam tournament. Bouchard defeated current world No.1 woman’s singles tennis player Serena Williams in the Hopman Cup in January of 2015 and reached the quarterfinals in this year’s Australian Open. This will be Genie’s third season playing in Mylan WTT.
