Venus Williams is entering her 8th season of World Team Tennis (WTT) competition and her second season with the Washington Kastles.  Venus will be making her return home to Philadelphia, on July 6th when the Philadelphia Freedoms host the Washington Kastles in an early season duel.  She played for the Freedoms from 2006-2009, and led them to a WTT Championship in 2006, where they defeated the Newport Beach Breakers!

This week, Venus is making her return to the court at the Aegon International in Eastbourne, Great Britain.  This is her first appearance since the Australian Open, where she was forced to  withdraw from because of a hip injury.  In a recent interview previewing the upcoming season, she was quoted as saying her hip is "good" and her fitness level is "really good."

Venus also discussed how Billie Jean King has instilled equality in WTT.  Venus stated, "I definitely enjoy playing World Team Tennis not only because its for Billie, but also because of the perspective she has of it."  Venus also provided some insight on her future in WTT when she said, "I'll be at World Team Tennis as long as they'll have me."
